Here’s a glimpse into how our beautiful lanterns come to life.

In the renowned Zigong Market, the creation of custom lanterns is a collaborative and intricate process involving several skilled artisans, each with their unique expertise.

Designer

The journey begins with the Designer, who conceptualizes the overall aesthetic and theme of the lantern. Drawing inspiration from traditional motifs, modern trends, and specific client requests, the Designer sketches detailed blueprints that guide the entire process. Our chief Designer is artist Yu Wang.

Framing Engineer

With the Architect's plans in hand, the Framing Engineer constructs the lantern's skeleton. Using bamboo or metal, they craft a sturdy yet lightweight frame, bending and securing the materials to match the intricate shapes and contours of the design. This step is crucial for defining the lantern's overall shape and ensuring its durability.

Paper Skinner

Once the frame is ready and the lighting is installed, the Paper Skinner takes over. They select fine silk, rice paper, or other translucent materials to cover the frame. The Paper Skinner meticulously cuts, stretches, and adheres the material to the frame, ensuring a smooth and seamless finish that allows the light to shine through beautifully.

Architect

Next, the Architect steps in to transform the Designer's vision into a practical structure. They plan the lantern's physical dimensions and ensure it maintains balance and stability. The Architect's meticulous calculations and innovative solutions lay the groundwork for a seamless assembly.

Electrician

For lanterns that light up, the Electrician carefully integrates the electrical components. They skillfully wire LED lights or traditional bulbs, ensuring they are safely and discreetly embedded within the frame. The Electrician's expertise guarantees that the lantern not only illuminates beautifully but also operates safely.

Painting Artist

Finally, the Painting Artist adds the finishing touches, bringing the lantern to life with vivid colors and intricate designs. Using traditional brushes and modern techniques, they paint scenes from mythology, nature, or abstract patterns, transforming the lantern into a unique piece of art. Their skillful strokes and attention to detail ensure that each lantern is a masterpiece.
